Agricultural Equipment Technician / Technician Apprentice  

Technicians report to the Service Manager and strive to offer industry leading service to our customers, whether in the shop or the field.

 

Responsibilities:

•    Perform diagnostic tests on engines and equipment
•    Repair and assemble equipment (mechanic, hydraulic, electrical, cooling, lubrication, etc.)
•    Record work performed and pass on such records in a timely manner
•    Double-check own work completed against original repair request for accuracy & completion
•    Identify additional deficiencies (if any) and bring them forward to consider repair
•    Test repaired equipment for proper performance
•    Keep work station neat and tidy
•    Maintain shop equipment
•    Mentor apprentice technicians as needed
•    Operate forklift – AFTER on-site training
•    Use electronic service tools with care 
•    Responsibly use company owned tools, reporting on any issues
•    Adhere to workplace safety policies, procedures and OHSA
•    Delivery of equipment when needed
•    Available participate in supplier on-line or on-site technical training programs.
•    All other duties as assigned in the course of a work day

 

Skills/Experience:

•    Licensed Agricultural Equipment Technician / Technician Apprentice (425a) 
•    Mechanically inclined with previous experience working with agricultural, heavy, or construction equipment
•    Employee must be able to lift and move pieces of equipment within job context
•    Analytical and interested in solving customer problems
•    Independent and able to make corrective decisions while having a strong team ethic
•    Willingness to use digital work order software
•    Must have own set of tools and safety boots

Technician Apprentice

Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Apprentice, according to their education and skill level attained, assembles machinery, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs or overhauls farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, balers, side-by-sides, etc. that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical and electronic principles. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•    Assemble equipment according to operator’s manuals
•    Inspect and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions
•    Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources, as needed
•    Dismantle defective machines to repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, machines, welding equipment, grinders, etc.; and reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary

•    Clean and lubricate parts
•    Record details of completed repairs and parts used
•    Keep workstation neat and tidy
•    Operating forklift – AFTER on-site training
•    Use company tools responsibly and maintain shop equipment 
•    Adhere to workplace safety policies, procedures and OHSA
•    Available participate in supplier on line or on-site technical training programs
•    All other tasks as assigned by the Service Manager or Technicians

 

Skills/Experience:

•    High School diploma
•    Farming and/or mechanical experience is an asset
•    Clean driving record
•    Must be able to lift and move pieces of equipment within job context
•    Analytical and interested in problem solving

Bilingual Sales Specialist

Reporting to the Sales Manager/Owner, the Sales Specialist provides the best value for both our customers and the company by providing exceptional service from initial point of contact to product delivery.  The primary focus of the Sales Specialist is to conduct sales of new and used equipment within eastern Ontario, while being an integral part of our front office team.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•    Sale of equipment by providing exceptional, value-added service to our customers, in line with their personal or business needs, from initial point of contact to delivery.
•    Prepare accurate and timely sales quotes, orders and reports.
•    Meet sales objectives by building relationships with new or existing customers, whether attending to walk in customer inquiries, in the showroom and the yard, and demonstrating new equipment to customers, both on site or at their homes/place of business.
•    Complete credit, financing and insurance applications with customers, ensuring all sales administration is completed effectively
•    Explain new warranty and service support policies to clients
•    Responsible to know all products availability, use, benefits, and pricing structures
•    Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
•    Learn and comply with federal, provincial and local regulations that affect unit sales.
•    As part of the sales team assist with: display of new equipment in the yard, receiving vendor deliveries, updating the sales website
•    Record weekly account updates, visits and contacts in CRM system
•    Remain current on product knowledge, product features and benefits of all equipment saleable by Topline Trailer & Equipment Sales / Weagant Farm Supplies
•    Adhere to workplace safety policies, procedures and OHSA
•    Maintain clean & neat appearance and safety of company-assigned vehicle (if applicable)
•    Other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager/Owner

Education & Experience:

•    Fluent bilingual written and verbal communication skills (English/French)
•    Strong sales skills or potential and passion to learn
•    Understanding/experience of the agricultural community and equipment needs is ideal
•    University degree or college diploma in business, marketing or economics is a strong asset
•    Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone and on online
•    Have strong ethical standards, high level of integrity and transparency
•    Valid G-class driver’s license
